Gerard Deulofeu’s Everton career was brought to an end yesterday as the Spaniard was bought back by Barcelona.
The Catalan giants took up their buy back option for the 23 year old for £12million.
Deulofeu spent the second half of the season on loan at AC Milan and according to the reports he excelled. Most Evertonians were hoping that he would at least be given pre season to prove to the manager what he could offer. However with Barca activating their buy-back option its clear the club were looking at moving him on.
It’s a real shame as there is a real player in there somewhere, apart from that first half of the season in 2015/2016 he has flattered to deceive. His end product lets him down, his fitness levels were appalling and if things didn’t go his way he sulked like no tomorrow. Koeman saw this and he clearly didnt do enough for him.
There’s no doubt he will go down as one of the most likeable under achievers the club has had, his generosity toward cerebral palsy Evertonian George Shaw was heartwarming, everything that is great about our wonderful game.
Good luck on your travels Gerry, we’ll always have Arsenal away!
Come on you Blues
