Can Geri Solve His Inconsistencies at Milan?

On Monday it was confirmed that Gerard Deulofeu had signed for AC Milan on loan until the end of the season.  For many Evertonians it brought an end (albeit temporarily) to his second spell at the club.  The frustration for Evertonians is that there is real talent there but it is shown so sporadically.

The season began with so much optimism for Geri, he scored in the first 3 preseason games against Barnsley, MK Dons & Dynamo Dresden playing in his favoured central role.  This put him in the frame to lead the line in the season opener against Spurs.  He then found himself out of the side as soon as Bolasie cemented his place in the team.

This time last season was a completely different story, having scored twice and assisted 8 goals before the New Year.  Unfortunately this year his level of performance has not been anywhere near what he produced during the first 6 months of last season.  It’s clear Koeman doesn’t rate or trust him to provide the level of performance required on a weekly basis.  Unfortunately for Geri this is a new Everton and if your face doesn’t fit and you don’t perform, you are unfortunately moved on to pastures new.

He’s such a likeable player is Geri and I’m hoping that if he hits the ground running at Milan, cement a place in the team and come back an improved, fitter and more consistent player.

Unfortunately I’m sure when he returns in July that he’ll see himself further down the pecking order.  This new found Everton, doesn’t wait around for anyone, you either jump on the train or get off and the next station.

Next stop Europe, all aboard!

Come on you Blues.
