Steven Naismith’s transfer to Norwich looks like its finally going through. The Scottish Forward who has made 123 appearances and scored 25 goals for the club during a three-and-a-half spell is close to agreeing an £8.5 million transfer.
I’m sure I wasn’t the only supporter who was left a little underwhelmed by his arrival in 2012. However it’s fair to say that he has proved the majority of us wrong. He has been a top professional both on and off the pitch. He always brought great energy and work ethic to the cause and was up for he fight and record against the top sides was excellent.
During his first three seasons at the club Naisy was a mainstay in the side accumulating a minimum of 31 league appearances per year. This year he has seen his playing time limited, which is bizarre in itself considering his hatrick against Chelsea back in September and the form of certain players who shall remain nameless!
My favourite Naisy moments have been his goal against Liverpool in 2012, his performance and goal when we took Arsenal apart in 2014 and obviously his hatrick this season against Chelsea.
If as reported Norwich have offered £8.5 million, then its a terrific deal for the club. Naismith works hard but when everyone is fit he is no more than a squad player. He’s 30 this year and considering we brought him in on a free transfer, to get £8.5 million is a great bit of business for the club.
You go with a heavy heart Steven but its a deal that suits all parties, good luck in Norfolk and thanks for the memory’s Naisy!
